Luis Garcia spots what Harvey Elliott did in Liverpool training session

As Liverpool continue their preseason tour of the Far East, Luis Garcia has noticed one player in particular who appears eager to make a positive impression.

Istanbul hero Garcia, who now does punditry work for LFC TV, spotted the goalscoring exploits of Harvey Elliott during an open training session in Singapore this week. The Reds will face Crystal Palace in the national stadium on Friday afternoon and if Elliott's shooting practice is anything to go by, he will be hopeful of finding the net for real against the Eagles.

Having watched the 19-year-old successfully convert a string of long-range efforts, Garcia shared his positive views on the hot prospect.

Garcia said: “I love him to be honest, ever since he arrived in the first team you could see that he’s there with a lot of hunger. That is now four goals he’s scored, every single time he’s been around the box he’s scored. He’s not looking for the top corner or a lob, he’s trying to score and that is important to have a player with that determination and conviction that he can become one of Jurgen Klopp’s first XI. He’s showing me in training that he wants to be in that XI.”

Elliott's breakthrough season with the Reds was wrecked last year when he picked up a serious injury after just four matches, but now fully fit, he has set himself an ambitious target of scoring 15 goals for Jurgen Klopp's side this time around.

Liverpool are expected to heavily rotate their travelling tour squad against Patrick Vieira's Palace side on Friday, much like they did against Manchester United on Tuesday in Bangkok, at match that the Red Devils won 4-0.
