Luis Diaz sends eight-word message after making Liverpool return in 'amazing' Leeds win

Liverpool star Luis Diaz has expressed his delight at ending his long wait for a return to first-team action following a serious injury.

The Colombian made his much-anticipated comeback for Jurgen Klopp's side on Monday night as he stepped out onto the pitch for the first time since October during the 6-1 win over Leeds United .

Diaz sustained a knee injury during the first half of the defeat at Arsenal on October 9. Initially, the former FC Porto forward was due back toward the end of December, only to suffer a setback during the Reds' mid-season camp in Dubai.

But on Monday, he made his biggest stride to returning to the starting XI as he came on in the latter stages of the thumping triumph.

And on his Instagram page, the 26-year-old posted an eight-word message after his late cameo at Elland Road. Diaz said: "So happy to be back, Amazing 3 points."

Diaz came on with nine minutes to go against Leeds and Liverpool boss Klopp, while playing his return calmly, admitted he has missed the attacker.

"Yeah, super-important, so Luis is back," the German said. "He’s now lacking rhythm, which is normal, (and) a bit of sharpness, but that’s normal as well. In training sessions you cannot get there to the final degree of sharpness, so we now try to just help him (get there) step by step back really into the team (and) give him minutes.

"It’s just nice to see him play, to be honest. We missed him so long, so it’s just nice to see him being involved again."
