Luis Diaz rejects Liverpool claim before 'dream' showdown with Real Madrid

Luis Diaz admits he is "living a great dream" as he prepares for Liverpool's Champions League final against Real Madrid - but has dismissed suggestions he will be the Reds' key player in Paris.

Diaz is hopeful of lining up in the Stade de France on Saturday evening having made a huge impact for Jurgen Klopp's side since arriving from Porto in January.

The 25-year-old Colombia international scored in both the quarter-final win at Benfica and the semi-final comeback in Villarreal.

And Diaz said: "Always I have dreamed of winning the Champions League. Even more so against a team like Real Madrid, I am living a great dream. I want to take advantage of these moments and be happy.

"Are we favourites? No, there are no favourites here. We know that a final is contested minute by minute. We are going to give 100%. We know what we have to do.

"Clearly, we know what Real Madrid have, what a great team they are, the experience they have, but we also have a great squad and our great game and we are going to counteract what they do. Who are Real's best players? I don't know – Karim (Benzema), Vinicius, I really like Toni Kroos."

While Diaz has been touted by many as a potential matchwinner against Rwal Madrid, the winger is quick to share the praise for the Reds having reached a third Champions League final in three seasons.

"No, I don't believe so," he said when asked if he was Liverpool's form player. "I think every one of us is in very good shape to compete at a high level, not only me. Everyone in the squad is in good form. I know if I am given the opportunity I will go out there to take advantage like always."

And of the backing of supporters from his native Colombia, Diaz added: "I know that I have their support 100% and I will try to represent them in the best way and go out for that victory."
