Liverpool could potentially be fearing the worst over Luis Diaz after the Colombian left the Emirates Stadium on crutches with his knee in heavy strapping.
The forward was initially selected to start by Jurgen Klopp in north London but lasted just 42 minutes before he was replaced by Roberto Firmino. The problem appeared to centre around a heavy challenge from Arsenal ’s Thomas Partey.
It now appears that Diaz’s injury could well be worse than first thought with the winger heavily strapped up in a knee brace, whilst he also left the Emirates Stadium on a pair of crutches.
Any long-term absence would be a nightmare for Liverpool with the former Porto star having been one of the rare shining lights for Jurgen Klopp in what has been a miserable start to the campaign. Ahead of the trip to North London, the 25-year-old had four goals and three assists to his name in all competitions.
The Colombian wasn’t the only one to suffer a problem in the Reds’ defeat to Arsenal. Trent Alexander-Arnold was involved in a heavy clash with Gunners’ forward Gabriel Martinelli and appeared to roll his ankle.
He was eventually replaced at the break with Klopp not remaining particularly positive over the fitness of the pair.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the final whistle at the Emirates Stadium, the German said: "He [Alexander-Arnold] is injured unfortunately. Like Luis Diaz as well, it doesn't look good for both. That is the icing on the cake.”
Liverpool have of course suffered a wide array of injury issues over the opening months of the campaign. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Andrew Robertson and Curtis Jones all remain on the sidelines with on-loan midfielder Arthur Melo set to undergo surgery following an awful start to life at Anfield.
The Reds are set to embark on a busy run of fixtures over the next couple of weeks ahead of the mid-season break for the World Cup. Liverpool face a further six Premier League games over the next month, starting with their home clash with Manchester City next weekend.
Alongside that, they also have the rest of their Champions League group games to navigate, as well as also starting the defence of the League Cup against Derby County next month.
It of course remains to be seen whether the Merseyside outfit will be able to call upon either Diaz or Alexander Arnold for those fixtures as Klopp attempts to get the Reds back on track.
They were condemned to another frustrating Premier League result on Sunday as they fell to a 3-2 defeat to Arsenal - a result that leaves them in tenth in the current table and already 14 points off the pace with the leaders.
