Luis Diaz has already sent a message to his future Liverpool teammates

Luis Diaz’s future Liverpool teammates will enjoy his outlook on the game, if the Reds can get a deal over the line before Monday’s deadline.

The Reds submitted an offer for Diaz after Tottenham had made their interest known in the Porto forward.

His prolific form for the Portuguese side - 14 goals in 18 league games - saw him attract interest from Liverpool, who initially considered the Colombian to be a target for the summer.

However, the wide forward has insisted he is not purely focussed on goals and can also provide a creative edge, when called upon.

“I like goals a lot, since I was little. But if I see my teammate better positioned, I try to assist,” Diaz told Marca in 2020.

“Sometimes my teammate tells me: 'why don't you shoot?'... but I prefer to give him the pass because he's in a better position to score.”

“I am getting better at making decisions, defining better.

“And at the team level I have adapted in a good way, they have received me very well and that is essential.”

Having played on the left side of attack during his time with Porto, Diaz could arrive at Anfield to provide competition for Sadio Mane.

Though as Diogo Jota has demonstrated, his position may alter under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp.

Wherever he plays, the forward promises to be unselfish - an argument Mohamed Salah has had to work to debunk over his relationship with Mane.

The Egyptian forward has insisted that both players work hard to “serve the team”, a message that Diaz is familiar with himself.

“I am getting better at making decisions, defining better,” Diaz added in his interview with Marca.

“And at the team level I have adapted in a good way, they have received me very well and that is essential.”
