Luis Diaz fumes after Gary Lineker makes major Liverpool 'flop' claim

Your Liverpool morning digest for Friday, April 29.

Luis Diaz angered by final whistle exchange as Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp left bemused

While it would be wrong to say there was any bad blood between Liverpool and Villarreal during a hard-fought but fair encounter, there was one flashpoint after the final whistle involving former Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth.

Luis Diaz, who had been substituted, took exception to something that was said as the teams walked off, prompting him to be pulled away by Rhys Williams while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Adrian both went to confront Foyth, who was then told by Jordan Henderson it would perhaps be better if he refrained from speaking any further. Well, that's the family-friendly version, anyway.

Gary Lineker agrees Liverpool 'flop' sold by Brendan Rodgers is 'criminally underrated'

Gary Lineker has praised one-time Liverpool forward Iago Aspas for the impact he has made in La Liga since ending an unsuccessful spell at Anfield.

Aspas was signed by Brendan Rodgers from Celta Vigo in June 2013 and was handed the famous number 9 shirt. But the Spaniard struggled to impress and made only 14 Premier League appearances in a red jersey, including only five starts.

Perhaps cruelly, he was branded a 'flop' and is best remembered by Liverpool supporters for taking a bizarre corner against Chelsea in 2014, which set up a counter-attack for Jose Mourinho's side, in a match that condemned the Reds to a 2-0 defeat that indirectly handed the Premier League title to Manchester City.
