Luigi Mangione received an outpouring of support during his time in jail in Pennsylvania before his anticipated transfer to New York. According to Maria Bivens, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Mangione had 158 deposits made into his commissary account by Tuesday afternoon. Inmates can use these funds to purchase personal items such as snacks and toiletries.
In addition to the financial support, Mangione also received over 50 letters while at the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon. However, his only in-person visitors were his attorneys.
These gestures of support highlight the impact Mangione's situation has had on individuals, prompting them to reach out and offer assistance in various forms. The influx of donations and letters serves as a reminder of the community's ability to come together in times of need.
