Lufthansa will increase its number of flights from Liverpool.
The German airline began its Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Frankfurt route in May, offering connections to international destinations from the Speke-based airline, with a change in the German city. It will now double its number of flights to six per week from summer 2023, meaning it will operate on all days apart from Saturday.
The increased frequency means that Liverpool can offer one-stop routes to more cities across the world, adding to Lufthansa's existing connections to destinations like Dubai, New York, Chicago and San Francisco.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport CEO John Irving said: ”This is tremendous news not just for the Airport but for the City Region and beyond, as this will enable passengers to easily travel to more global destinations via Frankfurt with the benefit of starting their journey from Liverpool and the faster, easier, friendlier passenger experience we are now well known for.
“It is also good news for the region’s visitor economy, further opening up access for visitors to the Liverpool City Region, the North West and North Wales and great timing ahead of the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.”
Heinrich Lange, Lufthansa’s senior director sales for Northern Europe added: “This new Lufthansa connection from Liverpool to Frankfurt has already enjoyed a very good level of demand in its first year and Liverpool has also proved popular as a new destination. For next summer we are now doubling our number of flights to six per week, increasing our flexibility as passengers will have more flight connections available to them via our Frankfurt hub. Liverpool will see even more incoming guests as well.”
Lufthansa's increased frequency from Liverpool in 2023 follows news that Ryanair and easyJet will offer new routes from the airport next year. It was announced last week that Ryanair will run three more new routes - flying to Ibiza, Madrid and Shannon, while easyJet will begin flying from Liverpool to Corfu in 2023.
