Lucy Spraggan's This Morning tears as X Factor star gives emotionally charged performance

Lucy Spraggan was moved to tears as she delivered an emotionally charged performance of her new single on Wednesday's This Morning, 10 years on from shooting to fame on The X Factor.

Northern musician Lucy blew everyone away with her audition for the ITV talent show back in 2012, with her brilliant original songs, such as audition track Last Night, seeing her sail through to the live shows, before decided to leave the competition, Lucy has also stayed tight-lipped on the circumstances surrounding her exit, but has hinted that she will give a candid explanation in her upcoming autobiography.

Lucy appeared on This Morning alongside X Factor head honcho Simon Cowell, who she's recently gone into partnership with. As he sat next to Lucy on the sofa to be interviewed by hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, Simon declared he was "obsessed" with Lucy's new song, Balance, likening his reaction to it to the first time he heard the demos of Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love and One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful.

Talking about the song, Lucy explained: "I was in a session with my therapist and I've gone through life...this is my seventh album I'm releasing now and I've gone through life thinking I need to do everything myself, I need to own this myself and be super independent and she just said Why? Why don't you ask for help sometimes?

"It made a lot of sense and at at the end of the session I wrote this song and I sent it to her, she was the first person to hear it."

Simon said the lyrics of Balance, which talk about 'needing a hand' and 'being messed up' were "massively relevant in the world right now," and, as she ended her performance of it moments later, Lucy was reduced to tears as she choked on the final line. Alison rushed into hug her, telling Lucy: "That was so nice, absolutely beautiful."

ITV viewers at home were equally moved, with one tweeting: "I can relate to every word she sang," and a second reacting: "amazing Lucy Spraggan! That song is going on my motivation/lift me up playlist!!"
