Police found note saying 'I am evil, I did this' in home of Lucy Letby
A note was found in the home of Lucy Letby by police investigating the murders of seven babies saying 'I am evil, I did this', a jury heard this morning.
Lucy Letby, 32, denies the seven murders as well as the attempted murder of 10 others , some more than once, between June 2015 and 2016, while she worked at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Letby is standing trial at Manchester Crown Court charged with seven counts of murder and 17 counts of attempted murder.
Today Nick Johnson, KC, prosecuting, finished his opening statement by describing some "interesting items" reportedly found by officers from Cheshire Constabulary in her former home in Chester. He told the jury: "I have already told you that the police found a large quantity of hospital paperwork relating to many of the children whose deaths and collapses you are now considering.

"They also found some other interesting items. There were some Post-it notes with closely-written words, some of which included the names of some of her colleagues."

Fresh Avanti West Coast strike dates as travellers to be hit with more chaos
Fresh strikes have been announced in the rail industry as disputes over pay, jobs and conditions continue.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) said its members working as train managers on Avanti West Coast will walk out on October 22 and November 6 in a row over rosters. RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: "Avanti are one of the worst operators we have ever tried to negotiate with.
"They have treated our members appallingly and this strike action is the culmination of months of neglect and a strong response to the arrogance bosses have shown."

'Military grade' rocket launcher found in cannabis farm
A man was arrested after police discovered a 'military grade' rocket launcher at a cannabis farm.
Police raided a property on Windy Arbour Road, Whiston on Monday, October 10. Inside the property, officers located a large cannabis farm with "ready for sale" cannabis.
During the search, specially trained officers were called to the scene after a "military grade" rocket launcher was discovered. The weapon was found to have been decommissioned and was being kept as a "souvenir".
