Lucy played Bethany in the ITV soap from 2015 until 2020. During her time on the Manchester-based show the character was at the centre of a hard-hitting and highly acclaimed storyline that saw her teen character groomed by tanning shop boss Nathan Curtis.
The character left for a writing job in London following a romance with widower Daniel Osbourne who proposed to her on the rebound. In May 2019, announcing her decision to leave, Lucy wrote in a statement on Twitter: "After the most incredible four years, I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020.
"It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me. I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people everyday.
"I’m so thankful to Iain (Corrie boss Iain MacLeod) and everyone at Coronation Street. I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly."
Last year Lucy appeared as fans had never seen her before in a supernatural thriller podcast Sour Hall based on a short story by Naomi Booth about a lesbian couple who move to an isolated farm high up on the Yorkshire moors and are put to the test by a boggart, a tormenting character from English folklore.
Lucy was the 2018 winner of the National Television Award for Serial Drama Performance, the winner of the 2018 British Soap Awards for Best Actress and Best Female Dramatic Performance as well as winning the 2017 Inside Soap Award for Best Actress. Earlier this year she teased her next role as she took to her Instagram Stories to hold a Q&A with her followers.
"When are you back on our screens?" she was asked. And blonde Lucy replied with a black and white snap of herself with long wavy brunette tresses. "Some exciting things coming up! Can't wait for everyone to see," she said.
