Lucy Bronze insists she has no plans to retire, despite another World Cup heartbreak.
Bronze sobbed uncontrollably at full-time after her lapse led to the only goal.
She lost possession infield in the first half, left England exposed on the right and Spain took advantage to score through a low finish from Olga Carmona into the bottom corner.
It was cruel on Bronze as she endured more World Cup disappointment after losing two semi-finals in 2015 and 2019.
Bronze will be 35 by the time of the next World Cup in 2027 but the Barcelona star wants to continue playing for her country.
"I am not retiring from England," she said yesterday. "I think we have a really strong squad. I think we showed that with the fact that we have made a final and nearly won, nearly took it to extra-time with many players from the Euros having retired or got injured.
"The starting XI tonight, in attack especially, was very young and they have got many, many tournaments ahead of them.
"I am proud of what the girls have achieved, what we have achieved, but I think everybody that knows me knows that I only like gold medals."
Bronze is also targeting the Paris Olympics next summer, should Great Britain qualify. England's next fixture is against Scotland next month in the Nations League, a competition that will decide which two European teams join hosts France at the Olympics.
"I mean the Olympics is always the goal, even if we would have won this tournament," she said.
"The Nations League was the goal, the Olympics is the goal. That's a different team to this England team. The goal is always to win tournaments with this team. We have shown that we can do that. We have made a final as well. There is no reason why the team can't go and create more legacies and more winning legacies."
