EastEnders icon Lucy Benjamin has thrilled fans by showing off her natural locks which she has allowed to turn a silver shade of grey.
The 51-year-old soap star is best known for playing Albert Square’s Lisa Fowler – a role she originally played from 1998 until 2003 before returning first in 2010, again in 2017 and then a further time from 2019 until 2020.
It’s been two years since Lucy left the BBC soap and she has embraced ditching the peroxide and waving goodbye to the blonde locks that her EastEnders character was famous for having and allowing her natural greys to shine.
Taking to Instagram recently, the star revealed she was keeping herself busy by rehearsing for a new project – while posing for a photo.
She wrote online: "Week 7 of rehearsals. Loving' it!"
An image shared by Beyond Curtain showed Lucy rehearsing with her cast mates for an upcoming Royal Shakespeare Company production of Henry VI.
In the snap, Lucy looks in distress as she looks towards the camera with a knife in one hand and her other clutching her throat.
She wears a beige top and black jeans while her hair is tied back in a ponytail.
The soap star is set to play Eleanor, Duchess of Gloucester in the classic drama – and is also playing 2nd Keeper/ Tutor in a concurrent production by the same company in War of the Roses.
The shows will be performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company – with Henry VI playing from 1st April - 28th May 2022 and War of the Roses will run from 11th April - 4th June 2022.
Fans have also taken to social media to express their delight at Lucy’s all natural make-over with one writing on Instagram: “Looking lovely Lucy!”
And another gushed: “You look great baby!” – while a further fan branded her: “Beautiful.”
In recent months, Lucy has been keeping herself busy on stage in pantomime productions and comedy shows where she has performed in front of a live audience.
Despite being well known as one of EastEnders’ most high profile characters – with Lisa famously shooting Phil Mitchel in a storyline that gripped the soap world in 2001.
But it was only last year that Lucy received an award that she deemed worthy of her years and years of hard work.
Last December, she was thrilled to receive a Best Acting gong from the Royal Television Society of the Midlands for her performance as a character called Gina Stewart in the BBC lunchtime soap, Doctors.
Taking to Instagram at the time to express her excitement at being included in the awards, Lisa wrote: “After 43 years in the biz, I only went and bloody won Best Acting Performance at the #RTSMidlandsAwards last night for #bbcDoctors.
“Yippeeeee! My first ever award! #Can’tBelieveMyLuck #PerserverancePaysOff.”
