Luckless Western Bulldogs forward Kirsten McLeod's finals hopes have been dashed after she broke her leg on her return from more than 570 days on the sidelines.
McLeod suffered a broken fibula and a syndesmosis injury to her left ankle just four minutes into Saturday's win over West Coast when her leg got trapped under her in a tackle
McLeod was returning from more than 18 months out as she managed ongoing concussion symptoms.
She will undergo surgery this week.
The 28-year-old kicked the Bulldogs' first ever AFLW goal and was a member of their 2018 premiership team.
The eighth-placed Bulldogs can seal their finals spot if they beat Carlton on Friday.
Elsewhere, both North Melbourne and Richmond are sweating on big names as they prepare to face-off for a top-four spot.
Richmond spearhead Courtney Wakefield (shoulder) and gun recruit Eilish Sheerin (thumb) are listed as tests, as is skipper Katie Brennan, who is managing a foot injury.
North Melbourne skipper Emma Kearney will have to prove her fitness from knee soreness after teammate Vikki Wall fell across her right leg during the Kangaroos' win over Collingwood.
"Kearney had an incident during the last quarter involving contact to her knee. We will continue to monitor her throughout the week," AFLW performance manager Alex Veitch said.
Teammate Ellie Gavalas could return from a hamstring strain.
