'Luckily' - Andy Robertson names Liverpool difference in second-half of Everton win

Andy Robertson says patience was key for Liverpool as they beat Everton 2-0 at Anfield to keep their title hopes alive. At 0-0, it looked like it could be a difficult afternoon for Jurgen Klopp's side.

But Robertson and Divock Origi stepped up in the second half with two crucial goals to ensure Liverpool walked away with all three points. It was a fiery affair with it all to play for at both ends of the table.

Everton started the match in the bottom three, after Burnley secured a 1-0 win over Wolves earlier in the afternoon. The Blues do have a game in hand over their relegation rivals, but it's nervy times for Frank Lampard's side.

The visitors started the game well and restricted Liverpool, but the left back says his side controlled things much better after the break.

He told Sky Sports post-match: "It was so hard. First half we weren't at our best and we started playing their game instead of our own game. There was a lot of breakage in play, probably too many people coming together. But look, I've been in a relegation battle, I know what it's like.

"We had to focus on our own game. We had to play football, we had to be patient, create chances and luckily we managed it. I think second half we controlled the game a lot better.

"Patience was key. They knew going into the game they were now in the bottom three and that changes things. They're fighting for every point they can get. We knew it was going to be competitive, but we didn't really create anything in the first half and we didn't do what we wanted to do.

"Luckily in the second half there was a bit more patience and we popped up with goals."

Origi came on as a second half substitute, as he replaced Naby Keita on 60 minutes. With his first touch, he was involved in the opening goal, before heading in one of his own with five minutes left to play. That was his sixth goal against Everton in 10 games.

"It's a nice record," the striker said. "When I go on the pitch I think about making plays, playing football and today we needed it. It was a tough game but we got the three points and that's the most important thing."
