The National Lottery has dished out an eye-watering £4.5 billion to winners through prize money in 2022 - and it appears some professions were luckier than others.
In a huge year for the lotto, 375 millionaires were made in the UK thanks to the weekly draws. That's more than one made every day, and three ticket holders took home record-breaking wins.
The biggest winner was an anonymous EuroMillions ticket holder who took home a jackpot of £195,707,000 in July.
Camelot, the group that owns the National Lotto, has dug into the data to find out who luckiest in 2022 truly are based on their jobs and the numbers that they chose.
In terms of lucky professions, it seems like builders did the best in 2022, followed by teachers and drivers. Here are the top five professions according to the lotto group:
- Builders
- teachers
- drivers
- retail workers
- administration staff
And as well as lucky jobs, some lucky numbers appeared to pop up frequently with 39 appearing more than any other - 17 times.
Following that was 21, 13, 50 and 58. Meanwhile, the least drawn was little ball number 8 which appeared just five times.
EuroMillions’ luckiest number also appeared 17 times - ball number 48. It was followed by 24, 25 and 35.
