Lucas Moura has told his teammates ‘there is no time to cry’ after Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Brighton dented their hopes of a top-four finish. Leandro Trossard scored a 90th minute winner in north London on Saturday to end Spurs’ four-match winning streak, but they remained fourth in the table after Arsenal lost to Southampton.
However, the defeat did allow Manchester United to close the gap to Antonio Conte’s side to three points following their 3-2 win over Norwich. Spurs had scored 16 goals in their previous five matches but failed to muster a single shot on target in an insipid display against the Seagulls.
Moura, who replaced Dejan Kulusevski in the second half, conceded that the Lilywhites were below par, but insisted that they needed to put it behind them and focus on their primary goal of bringing Champions League football back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“We are all disappointed, said Moura as quoted by the Athletic. “It was a very bad game and we didn’t play well at all. We need to learn from these kinds of games. There is no time to cry. Let’s go for the next game.
“The top four is still possible and it is our objective. We can’t lose our minds now, we can’t lose our head, because we played really well the last few games. We look at the table but we knew the fight would be until the end. We need to fight, we need to work hard for the next game.”
Next up for Spurs is a tricky trip to in-form Brentford on Saturday evening. Thomas Frank’s side have won their last three games and will provide a stern examination of their top-four credentials.
