LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels dazzled Saturday evening as few quarterbacks ever have against Alabama.
The Heisman Trophy candidate was brilliant through the air and on the ground, throwing for 219 yards and running for 163. He tossed two scores and ran for a third as the Tigers entered halftime tied 21–21 with the Crimson Tide.
It was not to last, however. Daniels took a vicious shot to the head from Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner early in the fourth quarter, knocking him from the game. Shortly thereafter, CBS sideline reporter Jenny Dell informed viewers that Daniels’s evening was over—a damper on a game that unfolded like a classic in the making.
