The Kentucky men’s basketball team blew a 15-point lead against unranked LSU, and that wasn’t the most incredible part of their loss. The last 20 seconds of their matchup will blow your mind.
Maybe Angel Reese was on to something when she tweeted that she wanted fans to pack LSU’s arena to take on No. 17-ranked Kentucky. But I’m not sure she could have predicted the ending of Wednesday’s game. After LSU erased a huge 15-point deficit to lead by one point with 20 seconds remaining, the next sequences don’t even seem real.
Here’s how it went:
- Kentucky inbounds and finds Rob Dillingham to hit a jumper. Kentucky has a 74-73 lead with 11 seconds left.
- LSU doesn’t take a timeout, and the clock is running.
- At 5 seconds left, Jordan Wright moves the ball down the court.
- Wright runs into three blue jerseys, and his shot is blocked.
- Wright gets it back and throws it to Tyrell Ward.
- Ward heaves it up with 1.2 seconds left. SWISH.
- GAME. OVER.
What a world. This is college basketball at its finest.
