After two successful years at Maryland and two transcendent years at LSU, forward Angel Reese is headed to the next level.
Reese is declaring for April 15's WNBA draft, she told Leah Faye Cooper of Vogue in a profile published Wednesday.
“I’ve done everything I wanted to in college,” Reese told the magazine. “I’ve won a national championship, I’ve gotten (SEC) Player of the Year, I’ve been an All-American. My ultimate goal is to be a pro—and to be one of the greatest basketball players to play, ever. I feel like I'm ready.”
Reese, 21, immediately stands as one of the top prospects in a loaded draft class.
A three-time AP All-American, Reese helped pilot the Tigers to a national championship in 2023. LSU topped guard Caitlin Clark and Iowa 102-85 in a game that drew a record television audience, and touched off what may is quickly becoming one of the most compelling individual sports rivalries of the 2020s.
The Tigers fell 94-87 Monday to the Hawkeyes in the Elite Eight in front of another record audience.
“I’ll be working with grown women,” Reese said of her WNBA prospects. “I’ll be working with women that have kids, women that have a family to feed. I’m going to have to work my butt off every single day and grind. And who wouldn’t want that? I don’t want anything in my life to be easy.”
