Raebareli: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today filed his nomination papers from Raebareli for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Party President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi were also present at the nomination.
Raebareli is the second constituency Rahul Gandhi has filed nomination form. He has already filed his papers from Wayanad in Kerala.
Rahul Gandhi will take on Dinesh Pratap Singh of BJP at this Congress bastion.
Notably, this time no Gandhi is contesting from Amethi. The Congress nominated Kishori Lal Sharma who has already filed his nomination from Amethi on Friday.
The Raebareli constituency was represented by Sonia Gandhi from 2004 to 2024. Prior to that, Sonia Gandhi had represented the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency after she entered politics and contested for the first time in 1999.
The seat has previously been represented by Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Notably, the Amethi and Rae Bareli constituencies go to polls on May 20 in the fifth round of the seven-phase general elections. (with Agency inputs)
