New Delhi: A total of 162 candidates are in fray for the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi with the maximum contesting from North East Delhi constituency. The polling in Delhi will take place on May 25 under phase-6, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
May 9 was the last date of withdrawal of nominations. The nomination process had kicked off on April 29 and went on till May 6.
The number of contesting candidates in each of the 7 constituencies of Delhi are:
1 Chandni Chowk : 25
2 North East Delhi : 28
3 East Delhi : 20
4 New Delhi : 17
5 North West Delhi : 26
6 West Delhi : 24
7 South Delhi : 22
This time, there is a direct fight between the INDIA bloc and BJP.
Under a seat-sharing arrangement between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the former has fielded candidates from three Lok Sabha seats in Delhi while the latter is contesting from the remaining four.
