In what has been a surprising transfer rumour, Catalans Dragons mainstay Mickael Goudemand could be swapping Perpignan for Headingley in 2024 after being linked with a move to Leeds Rhinos.
The 27-year-old, who has made 86 Super League appearances for Catalans, has spent the entirety of his professional career in his native country whilst spending time on loan at Dewsbury Rams before his Super League bow. He was also part of the Dragons side that won the 2018 Challenge Cup Final and has been a regular since debuting against the Rhinos in 2018.
The France captain is more of a bench player, but a very good one at that. In 114 career games, 79 of those have been as a substitute. Goudemand is known for adding pace and aggression to the pack when called upon and boasts 13 tries to his name, which is hard to come by for a middle who doesn't start contests regularly.

What can be said about Leeds' latest target is Goudemand has a clean and efficient playing style. He is no-nonsense, with very few errors in his game. He has the ability to play big minutes if needed and is a very experienced top-flight forward that won't class on the quota. A rare quantity these days.
Coming into his prime years, the French star can play almost anywhere in the pack, either in the middle or as an edge back-rower. Goudemand possesses a nice pair of hands that enables him to link up with the spine as a ball playing loose-forward if needed, and his utility would be a godsend for the Rhinos. On top of that, having another person from his country will help current Leeds ace Justin Sangare.
He won't be short of suitors now the news is out about him rejecting a new deal to stay with the Dragons. However, as it stands, Rohan Smith is poised to land the Tricolours skipper, which would be an astute acquisition if it comes off. The Rhinos need forwards for 2024, and Goudemand is young, hungry, has been around the block and fits the bill in West Yorkshire.
