'Low lives' target family run farm in early morning burglary

Money and bank cards were taken as burglars targeted a family-run farm in the early hours.

Merseyside Police was alerted to the break in at Bridge Farm on News Lane in Rainford in the early hours of Friday April 14. The offenders gained entry by smashing through glass in the door, and stole money, purse and bank cards.

No threats were made to the occupiers, and there are not believed to be any injuries at this stage.

Officers are carrying out CCTV and witness enquiries, and anyone with any information or dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact police.

The owners of the farm shared images of the damage on social media, along with a message that said: "We’re very sorry for our customers but the café is closed until forensics have been because some low lives have decided to break in overnight and take what us normal people have worked so hard to achieve."

Detective Inspector Tracey Martin said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the burglary, or may have noticed people acting suspiciously in the vicinity to please get in touch. We also urge people to please check your CCTV and doorbell footage and please share this with us if it captured anything of relevance that will help with this investigation.

“Any information, no matter how small, will help the investigation to help bring the offenders to justice.”

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ with reference 23000315350.

You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
