Love Island winners vow to put their £50k prize to good use by helping children

Think Love Islanders are shallow, superficial and self-centred? Think again.

This series’ winning couple, teacher Kai Fagan and social worker Sanam Harrinanan, are planning to put their £50,000 prize fund into setting up some worthwhile projects. Well, after a holiday to the Amalfi Coast and Santorini, that is... then, they’ve agreed to “be sensible” with their pay packet.

“Before I came in here I wanted to start up a business and help kids get into physical activity,” explains Kai, who taught PE and science in Manchester.

“I don’t want to turn my back on teaching, working with young kids and think I will use some of that to do that.” Sanam, 24, echoes her not-quite-official boyfriend’s sentiments, saying: “That’s similar to me.

“I came from social work – working with children who have been adopted.

“I know that sometimes in my area there can be limited services, so for me I want to be able to do something to aid and support them.”

It’s no wonder show host Maya Jama admits she almost burst into tears live on air during Monday’s final as the pair came close to declaring their love for the first time. Kai, also 24, has already shown the giving side of his nature.

He raided the girls’ dressing room before leaving the villa, and pinched all the beauty products he found for his little sister.

Charity does begin at home, after all.
