Love Island viewers were treated to one of the most dramatic post Casa Amor recoupling ceremonies ever on Thursday night.
The highly anticipated episode saw the original six girls return to the main villa, where their partners had been getting to know six new single girls. During the intense recoupling, Laura Whitmore shocked the villa forcing contestants to stick to their original partner, or recouple with one of the new Islanders introduced.
The girls in Casa Amor, and the boys in the main villa, had no idea what their partner was getting up too during their separation and were forced to make a tough decision. Viewers were frustrated after seeing Welsh paramedic Paige Thorne remain fully loyal to her partner Jacques O'Neill, while he took the time to get to know both Mollie Salmon and Cheyanne Kerr.
Despite getting to know Mollie, and kissing and sharing a bed with Cheyanne, Jacques chose to stick in his couple with Paige to viewers despair. After seeing this betrayal leaving Paige in tears at the end of the episode, viewers were calling for her to rekindle her romance with Scots hunk Jay Younger.
After entering the villa, Jay caused havoc by kissing Ekin-Su while she was coupled up with Davide but after he was coupled up with the Turkish soap actress, he confessed his feelings for Paige. The 28-year-old from Edinburgh was off to a rough start in the villa, as many fans saw him as a 'game player' but his respectful attitude during Casa Amor has made him a fan favourite.
Now, fans are calling for Paige to rekindle her short-lived romance with Jay after Jacques brutal betrayal.
One fan wrote: "Paige and jay.. I’m routing for you now! #LoveIsland." Another agreed: "Really hoping Jay and Paige will come together now! Skidmark just needs to f*** off, can't deal with him on my screen anymore! But unfortunately I do think paige will fold and let him manipulate his way back in. Fingers crossed I'm wrong!"
Another penned: "low-key hope paige and jay give things a go.. i’m sure chyna is lovely but paige was so quick to dismiss jay for the sake of jacques & i think she is still his first choice.. they could be a power couple" A fourth agreed: "Okay but Paige and Jay would be cute together #LoveIsland "
However, some fans disagree and believe Jay shouldn't be someone's second choice due to his budding relationship with Casa bombshell Chyna.
One fan said: "I’m not understanding why some Fiat 500’s are saying Paige should couple with Jay because “she’s a lovely girl and deserves it” they don’t even see or consider Chyna as a factor #loveisland " Another viewer agreed: "Can we please promote Jay and Chyna’s relationship. Non toxic. Non possessive and ever since jay stuck his neck out to try and get to know Paige I knew he wasn’t here for the money #LoveIsland "
A third wrote: "On the off chance that Paige has had enough of being clowned why should Jay settle for second best #LoveIsland " Another viewer agreed: "And I see some of you saying you want Jay to end up with Paige. Jay has a whole pretty girl who he’s calm and chill with, he ain’t no backup plan for your damsel in distress."
Love Island viewers were also happy to see a sweet moment between Jay and his pre Casa Amor partner Danica. Before the villas were split in two, Danica chose Jay at the recoupling and they stayed in a friendship couple.
After Casa Amor, Jay recoupled with Chyna and Danica recoupled with Josh as both parties looked delighted for one another when they were reunited.
One wrote: "Jay being pleased to see Danica with a boy. I am a big fan of this man" Another penned: "jay and danica so sweet to each other once they both recoupled up"
A third agreed: "anyone else thought how cute it was when jay smiled when danica walked out with someone else?! he genuinely still looks happy for her"
