Love Island viewers not happy as Maya Jama accidentally drops spoiler ahead of finale

Love Island viewers were left fuming when host Maya Jama accidentally revealed the final couple to be dumped from the South African villa during the penultimate episode on Sunday, March 12. The series finale will air on Monday, March 13 and will see one couple follow in the footsteps of last year's winners Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.

Islanders Will Young and Jessie Wynter just missed out on a place in the final and fans are saying that a trailer for Love Island: Aftersun ruined the surprise. The spin-off show, which is also hosted by Maya, airs when the main show has finished on Sundays.

The trailer showed Will and Jessie in the studio with presenter Maya, who said she’d be chatting to the “dumped Islanders”. Viewers immediately took to social media to share their disappointment.

“NOT THE AFTER SUN ADVERT REVEALING THE DUMBED COUPLE BEFORE THE DUMPINGS BEEN SHOWN”, wrote one person. A second echoed: “Someone from the Aftersun editing team should get fired, cos surely that was a production error???”

It wasn’t just the trailer that had people up in arms, either. Earlier in the evening, eagle-eyed viewers spotted that Will and Jessie could be seen in the back of Maya’s Instagram Stories.

"Not Maya Jama accidentally exposing the fact that will and jessie are the ones getting dumped…" said one person about this. Another then added: "How did love island spoil who was going home before it was shown in the episode? First mayas Instagram story and now an advert. Tomorrow night… someone is getting fired"

The Love Island 2023 final will take place on ITV2 and ITVX Monday, March 13. It will kick off at 9pm as usual and air for one hour and 35 minutes, ending at 10:35pm. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
