Love Island viewers issue demand as Gemma Owen spends night with 'Italian Stallion'

Love Island fans issued a plea as Gemma Owen spent the night with her new partner in tonight's episode.

The popular dating programme returned for season eight earlier this week. Host Laura Whitmore shocked the new contestants when she announced the public would be deciding the first couples for this season.

Michael Owen's daughter, Gemma, is participating on the programme this series and was coupled up with Liam Llelwyn. However, the 19-year-old had her head turned when Davide Sanclimenti entered the Majorcan villa in Monday's premiere.

The 27-year-old, who has been labelled the "Italian Stallion", was allowed to choose which girl he would couple up with and selected Gemma at the end of last night's episode. The decision was hit by controversy as fans criticised the eight year age gap between Davide and Gemma.

Tonight's episode followed on from the shock recoupling as Davide and Gemma shared a bed for the first time. Gemma's first partner, Liam, told her he was rocked by the decision and still harboured feelings.

He said: "You're still top of my tree. Off the bat, you are very girlfriend material." However, viewers following the show on Twitter pleaded with the Islander to move on from the Team GB dressage competitor.

Toni said: "Liam needs to move on."

@ricksnemesis added: "Liam sweetheart move on please"

@Blobwithagob commented: "Liam please move on. This is cringe to watch"

Sarah tweeted: "Me waiting for Liam to take the hint and move on"

@cherelli3 posted : "Liam needs to move on, Gemma don’t want you"

Love Island airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub
