Love Island viewers defend Irish hunk Martin as triangle with Shaq and Tanya comes to an end

Love Island took a turn on Tuesday night, as the islanders were settling back in the main villa after the antics of Casa Amor.

Tanya Manhenga reunited with Shaq Muhammad and Will Young is slowly building trust back up with Jessie Wynter.

The couples were tested with the Knowing Me, Knowing You challenge, which placed a strain on a few relationships before the return of Movie Night was teased.

Tanya apologised for the fact that it "took someone else" coming on to the scene to make her realise her feelings for Shaq as she officially ended her Casa Amor love triangle – although Irish bombshell Martin Akinola had a few things to get off of his chest.

After speaking to Olivia, Martin pulled Tanya for a fireside chat, and said: "When I was speaking to you, you never told me you were a liar."

The next day, Tanya decided to apologise to Martin for everything that happened, meanwhile Shaq and Martin cleared the air, with Martin clarifying that there's no bad blood between them.

Viewers were fuming at Tanya and the islanders after their treatment of Dubliner Martin during the Mr and Mrs challenge, as Martin was voted as the least genuine islander.

Viewers took to social media coming to Martin’s defence.

One unhappy viewer said: "Me counting the number of times Tanya could have told Martin about the kiss starting with BREAKFAST TOGETHER?? #loveisland."

While another commended Martin, saying: "Fair play Martin because he's spitting facts. Anger is justified because she was gaslighting him when he called her out days ago #loveisland."

Fans pointed out that the stars have known Casa Amor’s Maxwell the exact same length of time, but his name was not called out during the challenge.

Another said: "Everyone backed casey when lana and ron went off together the same night she dumped him so where's that energy for martin??? #LoveIsland."

While a fourth accused the islanders of bullying, saying: "Nah cos they were literally bullying Martin and he’s done nothing wrong! #loveisland."

As the episode came to an end, the return of Movie Night was announced and with everything that happened in Casa Amor, there's bound to be tension in the villa.

Love Island continues tonight on Virgin Media One at 9pm and Virgin Media player.
