Love Island Aftersun viewers were left cringing with secondhand embarrassment on Sunday night as a dumped islander attempted to make moves on stunning host Maya Jama during the live broadcast.
After failing to build a strong romance with Tanya while in the villa, Casa Amor bombshell Martin Akinola was given the boot and appeared on Aftersun with Maya, 28, to dish the dirt on his fellow islanders.
However, Irish reality TV star Martin had one thing on his mind while appearing on the ITV2 show, and that was securing a date with brunette beauty Maya after his failed romance with Tanya.
During his chat with Maya, Martin explained that Tanya, 22, brought him back from the main villa, saying that the pair had a real connection before Tanya decided that she wanted to put all her eggs in Shaq's basket instead.
As Martin divulged his story, the Casa Amor bombshell became flustered while speaking to Maya, before admitting that he has a huge crush on the Love Island host.
"Of course I have the beautiful Maya sitting right across from me. I'm trying to give it loads," Martin said.
Following Martin's cheeky quip, the Aftersun audience erupted into laughter and cheer, but viewers at home were not as convinced.
Taking to Twitter, they shared their reactions with some viewers pointing out that Martin was 'too brave' to make moves on Maya.
"Martin must be feeling hella brave tonight if he thinks he has any chance in hell of bagging a girl as dreamy as Maya," one Aftersun viewer quipped.
"Not Martin trying to bag a date with Maya on live TV. I'm cringing so hard right now," another echoed.
"Sorry Martin, you're hot and all, but Maya is so far out of your league it's not even funny," someone else complained.
While a fourth viewer tweeted: "I have to applaud Martin for being so brave to chat up Maya. What a legend."
"She's too good for all of us Martin. Nice try though," someone else joked.
Martin didn’t mince his words after being brutally dumped from the ITV dating show on Friday night.
The Irish hunk – a good pal of last year’s Love Islander Dami Hope – learned he was going home when Tanya Manhenga chose to couple back up with Shaq Muhammad.
Martin had no idea Tanya was planning on dumping him as he said she didn’t give him a ‘head’s up’.
Instead he found out about her decision in the final minutes of the show which meant he was going home.
In his exit interview, the 27-year-old software engineer from Dublin threw shade at Tanya and Shaq saying he didn’t think their relationship was genuine.
He said: “Genuinely, I think Shaq might be in love with her. But I don’t think she’s in love with him.”
*Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and catch up on ITV X.
