Love Island fans have slammed the show over the number of famous connections contestants have.
Fans have expressed frustration on Twitter , calling out the show’s producers for choosing contestants with famous connections instead of regular applicants.
Other critics have gone as far as saying applying for the show is pointless unless applicants have a famous contact or thousands of Instagram followers.
This year, Sophie Piper, Paige Turley, Mike Boateng and Eve Gale all claim to have some sort of connection to people in the limelight.
Sophie has a famous half-sister Rochelle Humes, Paige dated Lewis Capaldi, Eve flirted up a storm with rapper Tyga and Mike's brother Samuel was on The Apprentice.
This is a trend that has followed on from recent seasons where a member of Blazin’ Squad featured in the villa alongside the siblings of boxer Tyson Fury and dancer AJ Pritchard.
“I want to see regular people on love island not people who have a connection to famous people... where is Dave from Scunthorpe?” one Twitter user pointed out.
Although it is true that some of the contestants have a claim to fame, others have kept very quiet about any famous contact.
This is the case with Shaughna who has been spotted with TOWIE star Yazmin Oukhellou in the past.
Other contestants don't appear to have any famous ties at all.

“All of these love island contestants have some sort of entitlement or famous connection and I don’t think it’s fair. Where are all the normal people on this show who work in offices or work in building sites ??? !!! Casting, sort it out,” another twitter user said.
In fact, this year’s show does feature a builder and a scaffolder, and so far neither have boasted of famous contacts.
Others added: “Think you should change the name from Love Island to "Only the rich or 'well known' Island’. You don't even care that your making horrible people like this. Richer and famous smh."
Although this frustration is heavily placed on the show’s creators and casting, other viewers have a problem with the contestants who boast famous connections themselves.

Of the two most notable connections, Paige has been the only contestant to name-drop her famous ex while speaking in her opening segment.
The relationship has also been widely reported by media outlets, as more details unravel about former allegations of cheating.
Another added: “Trying to claim her 15 minutes of fame on the back of a talented musician @LewisCapaldi . I’m Very much over people being “famous” when they have absolutely nothing to offer to the world other than discount codes #LoveIsland.”
During Sunday's launch, Sophie was also taunted for her apparent desperation to name drop her famous sister, Rochelle Humes.
“Reckon Sophie is going to wait until Saturday then tell all the guys she is Rochelles sister,” a viewer joked.
So far none of the contestants have actually admitted their famous connection to the others in the villa. This certainly won’t last long.
