Love Island stars won't be told about Boris Johnson's resignation and cabinet reshuffle

Love Island stars will not be told about Boris Johnson's resignation.

The ITV2 show is five weeks in with some huge drama ahead this evening, as the infamous Casa Amor recoupling begins and the Islanders will be forced to choose whether to stick with their original partners or swap them for new ones.

A big decision has also been made by Boris Johnson, as - after much pressure - he has decided to twist on his decision to remain as Prime Minister and now has resigned, remaining in the lead role until a new person is appointed.

This news will not be shared with the Islanders.

It is protocol that the Love Island stars are not told any information from outside the villa - although there was one exception in its eight series history, when last year, the Islanders were allowed to watch the Euro 2020 final between Italy and England.

However, they do get a chance to find out a little bit of information as a former Islander has revealed.

Adam Collard, who appeared in the show in 2018, said: "The only information you get is when there is a new bombshell or a new islander coming into the house and then you start quizzing them.

"We’re not supposed to ask, but when Sam Bird came into the house we pestered the life out of him and then he told us the England score for the first game [of the 2018 World Cup], and then the girls in Casa Amor told us the second score."

There will be drama ahead tonight as host Laura Whitmore heads into the villa for a dramatic recoupling.

"As you all know, tonight there will be a recoupling. Boys - each of you have a big decision to make. So I’m gonna ask you one by one if you want to stick with your partner who has been away in Casa Amor for the past few days, or whether you want to recouple with one of these gorgeous girls standing in front of you," she tells them as they prepare to make a decision.

"Now remember, the girls in Casa Amor have also been given the choice of whether to stick with you or couple up with someone new. So boys, it’s time to make your decisions and let’s find out what the girls have decided to do."

*Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
