Love Island star Maura Higgins reportedly the favourite to host ITV Big Brother revival

Maura Higgins is reportedly the ITV bosses' favourite to host the revival of Big Brother, which is set to air next year.

Producers reportedly believe Maura has the "warmth" to talk to housemates and has the ability to "hold the show together". A source told The Sun: "Producers are determined to distance themselves from former Big Brother names but the former favourite, Mo Gilligan, is now busy in the States.

"Now bosses are looking at female stars who have the strength to hold the show together, while also the warmth to gently quiz contestants in the way that Davina McCall and Emma Willis did so well. Maura is a homegrown ITV talent who has all that - plus of course looks great on screen."

ITV aired a short trailer for the return of Big Brother in 2023, confirming Big Brother has found a new home, following previous stints on Channel 4 and Channel 5. Big Brother last aired in 2018 before it was axed by Channel 5, with ITV now planning a "Big Brother for the Love Island generation" to be shown on ITV2 next year.

Big Brother began on Channel 4 in 2000 and turned housemates such as Nikki Grahame, “Nasty” Nick Bateman, and Jade Goody into stars. Former X-Factor stars Jedward put their names forward to host the show when it returns next year.

The Lucan lads appeared on the show in 2011 and then again on the All-Stars vs. New Stars series in 2017. Rylan Clark-Neal has also made his interest in the presenting role known, saying that he would be "a million per cent" up for it.

Davina McCall is also said to be "keen" to make a comeback, but Emma Willis isn't so keen, declaring "New era, new host".
