Love Island star Chris Hughes reveals who will win finale - and who's carried series

Ex-Love-islander Chris Hughes has backed Ekin-Su and Davide to win the show - but also says it is the girls who have carried this series.

Chris, who came third in the 2017 Love Island with Olivia, said that girls have provided fans with the most entertainment this year.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mirror’s Jess Saying Live, Chris, now a TV sports commentator, said he thinks this series has been the most full of drama for a long time.

“I think over the past three weeks Ekin-Su and Davide have become a certainty,” he explained.

“The girls have carried the boys this year. Whoever wins - apart from Davide and Ekin-Su - the boy needs to look at the girl and say thank you.

"The girls have been the ones with the personality, the girls have been the ones who have provided the entertainment. I think the girls have been really strong.”

“I think Davide has been great though. He has had his one-liners, he’s been charming, he’s been funny - he is the full package. He is obviously a very good-looking boy.

“Ekin-Su is also very funny. When she went in she must’ve been the producers’ dream. She lit it up. She was just full force and great TV. I think the two of them together have been the most entertaining a a couple. I think they are a certainty to win it.”

But Chris says the Island’s final four couples will not be thinking about winning - despite the £50,000 prize.

Speaking to Daily Mirror’s Jess Saying Live, he said: “The result doesn’t really matter. The final week is the most enjoyable week. You know no more bombshells are going to come in, you can relax and enjoy it for what it is, and obviously you have all been on this journey together.

“I know £50,000 is an awful lot of money to anyone, but after Love Island you can go off and make money in your own way.”

In previous years the winning couple have split the money between them, but at one point Chris said he thought this might be the year that one of the Islanders would ‘steal’ the whole prize pot from their partner.

“Initially I thought Davide could steal the money,” he says. I actually don’t think that would happen now they have declared love for each other. But I thought if there was ever a chance then it would have been Davide.”
