Love Island star Adam Collard's journey to ripped hunk after struggling with his weight as a teen

Love Island star Adam Collard has managed to completely transform his body since struggling with his weight as a teenager.

The reality star and personal trainer is set to return to the ITV2 dating series tonight, after previously entering the villa back in 2018.

During his previous stint, Adam was known for his bad boy ways as he managed to turn the heads of a number of girls in the Spanish villa.

And his ripped physique certainly didn't go unnoticed either!

The 26-year-old Geordie often takes to social media to document his daily workouts, from weight lifting to gruelling cardio sessions.

However, it hasn't always been easy for Adam when it comes to his appearance.

In fact, the reality star previously admitted to struggling with his weight during his younger years.

Adam opened up about his weight loss journey in a previous post, where he shared before and after photos of his transformation.

The post documented four different stages of Adam's journey, which ended on a snap of him looking particularly buff and slim.

It was a huge contrast to a photo of the Islander as a slightly chubby teenager.

The Love Island star previously spoke about his body transformation on ITV's Lorraine in 2018.

Appearing with ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott, Adam revealed how school bullies forced him into overhauling his lifestyle.

At the time, he shared: "I was quite overweight during school times. There was a couple [of pictures] from when I was older I couldn’t really find because I hid them so well, I was so embarrassed.

"I could come home and get away from it, but when it’s on Instagram or Twitter, you can’t get away from it."

Meanwhile, the hunk bravely opened up on his battle with body dysmorphia in 2019.

Speaking to This Morning hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on the ITV show, Adam discussed the importance of mental health and exercising.

He said: "I still feel like the little boy that was overweight and got a hard time in school.

"I’m content to a certain degree but I was never satisfied and I still am not satisfied. Everyone praised my body image in the villa, but nobody saw three days before when I was having a meltdown like, ‘Everyone’s gonna be bigger than me, everyone’s gonna be leaner than me, I’m not good enough.’

“When I walked into the villa I was 16 stone but very muscly and very lean, but I was also that exact 16 stone at 14 or 15, but seriously overweight. I had a lot of food issues.”

Nowadays, Adam appears to be completely confident with his body.

The star runs a gym called Sculpt Fitness, which offers personal training, group sessions and online fitness courses.

Love Island continues weekdays at 9pm on ITV2.
