Love Island set to introduce new twist as viewers allowed to pick first 'bombshell' to enter the villa

Love Island 2023 has already left fans stunned with a brand new twist before the series has even aired.

For the first time ever ITV bosses are giving the public the chance to choose the first male or female bombshell to enter the villa. The public can choose between Ellie Spencer, 25, a Business Development Executive at a law firm from Norwich and Tom Clare, 23, a semi-pro footballer from Barnsley.

Ellie describes herself as 'flirty, forward and very confident' warning fans she is not afraid to bring the drama on the dating show. She promises to 'shake things up' if she's voted in, adding that the other girls should 'definitely feel threatened.'

The blonde bombshell admits that while she hasn't had the best of luck in romance so far, she is looking to settle down with the love of her life.

She said: "The roster is pretty dry, it’s been dry for the last year, I don’t know what happened, it’s just not been a great time for me so I’m ready to find my husband."

Footballer Tom is equally keen to impress fans and become the first bombshell to enter the villa, promising he will bring a 'good vibe' to the show.

The sportsman, who plays for Macclesfield FC, has big ambitions for love inside the villa, declaring: "Since my ex-girlfriend, no-one’s really come to me and I’ve thought, ‘Wow’.

"Until I have that, I’m not really going to settle for less. Not in a bad way, but the next person I get with, I want to marry."

Describing himself, Tom added: "I’m loyal, trustworthy, family-orientated," but revealed he won't be afraid to shy away from confrontation in the villa too if necessary."

He continued: "I’m not snakey, I don’t like that kind of stuff. If I’ve got an issue with someone I’ll speak to them."

So far, the Winter Love Island line up has impressed fans of the show as the cast includes a TikTok famous farmer, a Michelle Keegan body double, and the show's first-ever partially sighted contestant.

The confirmed stars include Olivia Hawkins, Shaq Muhammad, Tanyel Revan, Will Young, Anna-May Robey, Ron Hall, Lana Jenkins, Kai Fagan, and Tanya Manhenga.

Voting opened at 8am today (Thursday 12th January) and is free via the Love Island App. The bombshell with the highest number of votes will be chosen to enter the villa, votes close at 9pm on Friday 13th January.

Love Island starts on Monday 16th January at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
