Love Island's youngest ever stars as fans complain about Gemma Owen kiss

Love Island viewers were shocked to learn one of the new contestants' ages last night.

Gemma Owen, who’s the daughter of football legend Michael Owen, revealed that she is just 19.

Viewers were then quick to criticise the show after the teenager was seen kissing “Italian stallion” Davide Sanclimenti, who is 27.

Fans weren’t happy about the eight-year age gap and took to Twitter to share their concerns, with some even threatening to complain to Ofcom.

One viewer said: “The fact that Andrew and Davide are EIGHT years older than Gemma doesn’t sit right with me - anyone else?”

Another agreed, saying: “I beg the producers keep Gemma away from Davide, she’s a teenager and he is nearly 30 I am not here for it.”

Some even threatened to make official complaints, with one fan quipping: “If Davide even chats to Gemma I’m calling Ofcom and the police.”

But it’s not the first time there have been big age differences on the dating show, and Gemma isn’t even the youngest contestant there’s ever been.

Here are all the youngest and oldest contestants to appear on Love Island.

Youngest contestants on Love Island

Amelia Peters was just 18 when she appeared on Love Island and shared a bed with Kem (ITV)

The youngest contestant to have appeared on Love Island was Amelia Peters, who was just 18 when she appeared on the third season of the show.

Amelia entered the villa as part of the Casa Amour twist; she failed to couple up and didn’t stay on the show for long but during her short time there she did share a bed and lock lips with 21-year-old Kem Cetinay.

Like Gemma, Bethany Rogers was 19 when she appeared on the very first season of Love Island, but she left the show after failing to couple up with anyone.

Emma Jane Woodham was also 19 when she headed to the Love Island villa in 2016.

Emma made headlines after the show aired a steamy scene of her and Terry Walsh, who was 28 at the time, in bed together.

As well as the teen contestants, there’s been plenty of 20-year-olds who’ve appeared on the dating show including Molly-Mae Hague, Tommy Fury, Kady McDermott, Josh Ritchie and Zara Holland.

Oldest contestants on Love Island

Marcel Somerville was 31 when he appeared on the same series of Love Island as 18-year-old Amelia Peters (PA)

Andrew Le Page and Davide Sanclimenti, who are both 27, are so far this year’s oldest contestants, but they are not the oldest to have appeared on Love Island.

The oldest Islanders include Jordan Ring, Marcel Somerville and Paul Knops, who were all 31 years-old when they appeared on series one, three and four of the show.

Marcel Somerville appeared on the same season as the youngest ever contestant Amelia Peters, which meant that series three had an age gap of 12 years.

Sophie Gradon was 30 when she went on Love Island (ITV)

Sophie Gradon was 30 when she appeared on the show in 2015, making her the oldest contestant on series two.

A number of Islanders were 29 when they starred on the show, including Laura Anderson, Tom Walker, Marvin Brooks, Anna Vakili, Rachel Finni and twins John and Tony Alberti.
