Love Island's stunning new villa finally nears completion weeks before series starts

Love Island is back for 2022 and this year's luxurious new villa is nearly ready to welcome the latest batch of sexy singletons.

Crews are adding the final touches to the stunning Mallorcan property, which comes with a 20metre swimming pool and, of course, the famous fire pit.

The previous Love Island villa that was used for five years was sold in March for £2.57million.

ITV2 bosses said they started to hunt for a new location to "enhance the show".

The new sun trap is nestled in a rural area of the island and is surrounded by fields, insuring total privacy for the islanders.

Producers have reportedly made the gym area bigger so love interests can watch their flames working out from afar.

Season one and two of Love Island was filmed at a property in southern Majorca's Santanyi region before being moved to Sant Llorenç des Cardassar in the north-east.

Kevin Lygo, managing director of ITV's media and entertainment told PA previously: "'We didn't own [the last property]. We rented it and we are choosing a new house for this summer so that is all secrecy.

The show, which is meant for singles looking for love, has attracted plenty of attached people who might have more than finding the one on their mind.

According to The Sun, islander hopefuls have been keeping their relationships a secret or have even binned them off to get a space on the show.

A source told the publication that couples had made deals with their partners that they would rekindle their relationship after leaving the show, taking advantage of the fame.

But the show's creators have said that they have "no interest in fame seekers", after the show has proven to be a quick way of racking up a huge following online.

An insider said: "Love Island bosses has no interest in fame seekers. They’re savvy to Islanders who think the show is a quick fix to fame and fortune.

"As has always been the case, Love Island bosses cast single Islanders who are looking for love.

"Nothing else will fly with them. Viewers tune in to watch relationships blossom, it's as simple as that."

It is said the new islanders will have gone through intensive questioning before they were granted a space on the show.

A Love Island spokesperson told MailOnline: "Our only stipulation is Islanders must be over 18, single and looking for love."

As the show enters its eighth series, it has poked fun at other rival dating shows in a flurry of advertisement.

Two animated promos aired over the weekend and announced: "Love Island is the OG of dating shows and after 7 years of matchmaking, marriages and babies, for 8 weeks this summer, we're officially owning love. So stand down all you pretenders - Love Is Ours."

Love Island starts on Monday June 6 on ITV2 at 9pm.
