Love Island's Shaughna admits pregnancy didn't come at most 'convenient time'

Love Island's Shaughna Phillips has confessed her pregnancy hasn't come at the best time - but admitted it was far from an accident.

The blonde beauty, 28, admits the news might have shocked many people as she doesn't always share her personal life online, but insists her Instagram followers wouldn't have been too surprised if they keep an eye on her Stories.

Shaughna has been with her businessman and property developer partner - who prefers to stay out of the public eye - since 2020.

The pair are currently living at her mum's house and came off the contraception pill two months prior to falling pregnant.

Speaking to OK! about discovering she was pregnant, she said: "I felt like I was going to explode with happiness. I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience."

She admitted she had no idea she was pregnant, but took a test when she was about six-and-a-half-weeks. She revealed it was just after she had attended the Love Island final and had put her tiredness down to being away.

Shaughna went on to say she had never thought she'd have kids before the age of 30, but came off the pill as she wanted to let her body adjust. Speaking about how she felt about becoming pregnant so soon after, she said she was "shocked" but insisted it wasn't an accident.

"It definitely came out of the blue because it happened a lot quicker than I was expecting," she revealed. "Don't get me wrong, it's not the most convenient time. We're living at my mum's and we're building a house pretty much from scratch, but is there ever a right time?"

Her new home is expected to be ready by next year, but is still said to need a lot of work to be ready. Shaughna admitted if it wasn't for the new baby being on the way and her two dogs, the couple could probably "rough it" and move in now, but they want it to be perfect so are continuing to live in a summerhouse in her mum's garden.

She first announced she was pregnant on Wednesday (October 19), days after she collapsed at the National Television Awards.

Taking to Instagram, she had to tell her fans the news so rumours of her being drunk didn't spiral. She shared a clip to the platform which featured footage of her having an ultrasound scan as well as clips of a positive pregnancy test.

Shaughna - who starred on ITV2's hit dating show in 2020 - wrote alongside the footage documenting the pregnancy: "Our greatest chapter yet".
