Paige Thorne has stopped drinking alcohol after admitting that she’s ‘not in a good place’.
The 25-year-old reality star found fame on the dating show Love Island, where she initially coupled up with ex-professional Rugby League player Jacques O’Neill before dating villa veteran Adam Collard.
Paige and Adam were involved in a tumultuous breakup, with a video surfacing of the personal trainer hugging a mystery blonde in a McDonald’s and jetting off to Bali on a work trip before kissing a different woman.
Eventually, the pair called time on their relationship before Adam admitted to the Mirror that ‘it was probably more me than her ’ who was responsible for the lack of communication towards the end.
Now, Paige has revealed her choice to stop her intake of alcohol three weeks ago in a bid to protect her mental health.
The paramedic said to The Sun at the I Wanna Dance With Somebody premiere earlier this week: "I’ve been struggling lately, really struggling with who I am and have not been in a good place.
“I’ve given up alcohol, it’s been three weeks now, because I’ve realised that I don’t like the person I become when I drink,” she admitted.
"So until I’m in a safe and happy place I want to stop drinking."
Paige has reassured fans that she’s surrounded by those that love and support her, and is excited to spend time in Swansea, Wales, alongside her family this
She told the publication: "You've got to love yourself, otherwise nobody else will.
"I'm happy being single and I'd love to go on a girl's holiday next year."
"We'll all be going to my mum's house - it's the last year we'll be keeping this tradition as we'll be travelling next year, so it's very sentimental,” she concluded.
Her decision to stop drinking comes as she returned to work as a paramedic in September.
Taking to Instagram, she told her followers: “As you can see, I’m back in my uniform. I’m about to be doing my first shift back.
“A little part of me is nervous because it’s been so long since I’ve been [working], but more than anything, I’m super excited to be back.
“Back with my team, back doing what I absolutely love, what I’m passionate about, what I’m comfortable with. I just know it’s going to be a great shift - well, we say this. Touch wood!”
