Love Island's Adam weighs in on ex Zara and Sam talking about his villa stint

Axed Love Island stars Paige Thorne and Adam Collard are optimistic about their future together, following their exit from the ITV2 show.

The Geordie hunk, 26, has even teased a potential double date with his ex Zara McDermott and her boyfriend, Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson.

Adam and Zara first met during his original Love Island stint - going on to date to date for eight months after leaving the villa together in 2018.

Zara and boyfriend Sam had a hilarious reaction to Adam's return to the ITV2 show last month - something Adam was happy to hear about following his exit from the show last night.

"I’ve got to be honest, I didn’t really expect it to be that plain sailing with their reaction. I’ve got to give credit to Zara," the personal trainer admitted when discussing his ex and Sam in his exit interview.

"We had some really good times and I’ve got really good memories from the time we were together. It’ll be nice to break the ice - you never know we might end up meeting up with them.

"I think Sam’s definitely the right person for her and if they’re happy, I’m happy. I’m definitely happy here."

Adam went on the declare he thinks he and Paige "will make it work" on the outside world, following their dumping from the island.

The brunette beauty and Adam became the latest - and final - couple to get the boot from the Love Island villa last night [July 31], just hours before tonight's big final.

The two Islanders will miss out on being part of the big day after each of the couples were tasked with voting for the two least compatible pairs during Friday's episode.

Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack were the only couple to receive an automatic place in the final, after none of the other couples voted them least compatible.

Discussing their future together post-Love Island, Adam said: "I don’t know what the moving situation is - I think I need to pitch her Newcastle very, very well.

"I’m really excited to go and see her family. I’m just excited to go and do all the fun things with her. I want to go on dates. It’s weird, I feel like we’re dating but we’re so far past that."

He added: "We have really got something good here. I just want to run with it to be honest. I see her in my future and I think she feels the same. We’re going to make it work."

In their exit interview, Paige has also admitted she considered leaving the villa alongside then-beau Jacques O'Neill, but seemingly has no regrets about her decision to stick it out.

Rugby player Jacques quit the ITV2 last month, after admitting he couldn’t "carry on like this" during some of his final scenes from the Spanish villa which aired on July 12.

He left behind Welsh paramedic Paige - pledging to meet her at the airport when she eventually returned home - but she went on to strike up a romance with comeback star Adam.

Speaking in her exit interview, Paige recalled bidding farewell to Jacques - who she was coupled up with at the time of his exit - last month, and admitted it was "hard" hearing him say goodbye.

"Honestly, I had a feeling that he was going to leave. It was really hard hearing him say it out loud, but I knew there was nothing I could say to make him want to change his mind," she explained.

"I knew that wouldn’t be right. I fully supported his decision, absolutely I could never have sat there and asked him to stay."

On whether she ever considered leading with him, Paige added: "It did cross my mind a little bit to leave with him, but things hadn’t been 100% all the way through, and the fact that they weren’t was what made me think.

"The fact that I stayed and I gave 100% to the experience and found something new and something more suited towards me just goes to show that everything happens for a reason."

Following Jacques' exit from the Spanish villa last month, Paige forged a strong connection with bombshell Adam - with the Love Island veteran even described her as 'wifey material' at one point.

Discussing their future following being dumped from the island, Paige revealed the pair are already making plans for Christmas together.

"Definitely we’re going strong," the reality TV star admitted when quizzed about how things looks for her and Adam going forward.

"We have done since day one. We’ve already made plans. He’s coming to see me in Swansea and I’m going to Newcastle. We’re already talking about holidays and Christmas plans. I definitely see a future."

* Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub
