Love Island's Olivia confirms relationship status after Maxwell split rumours

Love Island 's Olivia Hawkins has addressed speculation over her relationship with former co-star Maxwell Samuda.

The pair met on the latest series of the ITV2 show and like other couples have faced speculation that they have split up in the weeks since leaving the villa in South Africa.

Such speculation was sparked by Maxwell, 23, having gone on holiday without her recently. He went to Mexico with some pals last week and Olivia, 27, stayed in the UK.

They however interacted on Instagram after he arrived, with him suggesting she will be on the next holiday. He told Olivia just days ago: "You're coming on the next one".

The couple more recently interacted on the platform over the weekend, with them sharing heart emojis in response to each other in the comments section of one of her posts.

Olivia has dismissed split rumours already this month and has now further addressed speculation in an interview with OK! magazine - confirming that they are still together.

Asked how things are going with him, she said: "Things between me and Maxwell are really good. We spent pretty much the majority of time together after leaving the villa, before I went to spend time with family."

Addressing recent speculation about their relationship, she told the outlet in the interview: "There were rumours that we had split up, but they're absolutely not true."

Olivia also discussed meeting his family, saying: "It was great. I felt like I'd known them for ages, which might be because they'd been watching our journey in the villa."

She revealed that she's spent time with his father, but said she hasn't yet met his mother because she lives abroad. Olivia said they have spoken over FaceTime though.

And asked about the future, Olivia said: "I definitely see it going long-term. I've never had a boyfriend before, but I definitely see it going in that direction, for sure. I think I’ve just been way too picky in the past when it comes to guys."

During the recent interview, Olivia also discussed dealing with comments on social media since leaving the villa.

She commented: "I'm definitely getting used to it now and just ignoring the negativity. I know myself, my friends and family know me. And that's all that matters."

Prompted to discuss the hardest thing to deal with, she said: "The mental health aspects of fame and trolling. When you get the nasty comments – and I have had quite a lot of death threats – you just don't expect it at all."

The former islander added about such a response on social media: "I've definitely had down moments, but I'm a strong girl. I always have been. So you have to just block it all out."

Further discussing her approach, Olivia said: "Those people don't know me, they just see what they see on television, so that's up to them. I'm just going to carry on living my life."
