Reality star Olivia Attwood has lashed out at the Wives and Girlfriends of footballers hinting she thinks they lack ambition and self respect.
The 31-year-old former Love Island contestant is, in effect, a WAG herself as she is engaged to Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Dack, 28.
But Olivia insists she won’t just become someone who sits at the sidelines cheering on her beau while clutching the latest designer handbag.
She says she is focused on building an impressive career of her own and says she wants to keep herself busy in order to ‘respect’ herself in her relationship.
She told The Sun on Sunday: “People always assume I’m happy being a Wag but it’s not enough for me.
“I’d be climbing the walls after a week if I was just a Wag. I have to stay busy and have my own thing. That keeps the respect in our relationship.”
Indeed, Olivia – who was a contestant on Love Island back in 2017 where she was a runner up alongside now ex-boyfriend Chris Hughes – has been beefing up her own CV by becoming something of an investigative journalist.
She will soon appear in a documentary about OnlyFans performers which is due to air on ITV.
She explained: “I’m in my own lane and I’m excited about the future.”
Meanwhile, Love Island fans won’t have too much longer to wait for the hit series to return to ITV2 on Monday 6 June.
The upcoming eighth season of the reality romance show has been heavily advertised – with the series taking aim at other rival shows.
One ad declared: "Love Island is the OG of dating shows and after 7 years of matchmaking, marriages and babies - for 8 weeks this summer, we're officially owning love. So stand down all you pretenders - Love Is Ours."
And in one short teaser, Love Island pokes fun at rival shows Naked Attraction, Celebs Go Dating and Ex On The Beach.
A graphic shows a TV screen with the title "Naked Celebs Go Dating On A Beach."
The TV is quickly squashed by a pink hearted trainer as the words "LOVE" stand centre stage by the show's iconic pool and a flag flies with the words "WE OWN IT."
Another teaser shows inflatables arranged spelling "THE OGS OF LOVE" as two naked people kiss.
While fans of the winter edition of the show should brace themselves for the series returning in early 2023 after a three year absence.
So far only one edition of the show – that films in South Africa – has aired, with Finn Tapp and Paige Turley crowed the first and so far only winners of the show in 2020.
A source claimed last week: “Love Island bosses enjoyed the one and only series of Winter Love Island, but it was just before the pandemic raged so was shelved for 2021.
“When they started casting for this summer’s series they thought there’s definitely enough talent to do a second series again so have started the plans for a 2023 Winter Love Island.
“The series generally is really important for them as it attracts the all-important younger viewers, so if they can get a second series in one year then everyone will be delighted," the insider added.
