Love Island's Molly-Mae Hague responds to 'nasty' trolls as she says revealing daughter’s name was 'a really hard day'

Former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague, who two weeks ago became a mother for the first time to a baby girl named Bambi, has taken to her YouTube channel to speak about her birthing story and to address the "nasty" comments she received after revealing her daughter's Disney-inspired name.

It comes after the influencer and Pretty Little Thing creative director turned off the comments after introducing Bambi, who weighed in at 7lbs, and experiencing how "nasty this world can be" explaining how it was "a really hard day for me".

Talking to the camera addressing her 1.75million subscribers, Molly, 23, began with: "God guys, where do I even begin? I can't believe I can now say her name. The long awaited name reveal that was a really really hard day for me, I'll be completely honest, announcing her name, I don't know if you guys noticed but I did switch the Instagram comments off on that post. I think I was just brought back down to planet earth very very quickly of how nasty this world can be."

She then told her followers that she and her partner, boxer Tommy Fury - who she met when they both appeared on Love Island in 2019 - had always known their first daughter's name would be Bambi and that they knew it was unusual, although what she wasn't expecting was the reaction it brought.

"I think because we'd literally always known that our first baby girl was going to be called Bambi, we had gotten so used to the idea that that would be her name and to us it wasn't really unusual anymore and I know it is definitely unusual and unique and not going to be to everyone's taste, so when we announced it, in my mind I was like 'oh it's just this beautiful... it was just her. She is Bambi and that's just a beautiful name. And it's amazing. And then two seconds after posting it I was like 'Oh my god.'"

When Bambi's name was announced in an Instagram post which showcased the newborn's nursery, many took to social media to vocalise their opinions on naming the child after the 1942 Disney character as well as commenting on the style of the room - in particular the baby's cot, which many have likened to a fridge container and has been found to have a eye-watering price tag.
