Love Island's Maya Jama was stopped by US immigration officer with unusual questions during last trip

Maya Jama has revealed that she was questioned about Love Island by a United States immigration officer during a recent trip to the country. The 28-year-old Love Island presenter lives a jetsetting lifestyle that many envy, making stops in Thailand, Cannes and Mallorca this month alone.

Bristolian beauty Maya is currently in Mallorca ahead of series ten of Love Island kicking off on Monday (June 5). Yesterday, ITV unveiled the first ten singletons to be entering the villa, including a model who worked alongside Brad Pitt on the set of World War Z.

Love Island has millions of fans around the world, including famous faces like Margot Robbie, Paris Hilton, and Maya's ex, Stormzy. Referencing the ITV2 reality show's fanbase, Maya told The Sun: "It’s not even celebrities, it's just everywhere I go,"

"I was in the airport recently going to America and the woman at immigration was telling me how much she loved the show," Maya added. "She was asking me questions about all of the Islanders.

"I wasn’t asked any questions about why I was in the country, but instead everything that went down last series."

Yesterday, Maya revealed a shock twist for the new series, which will hugely shake things up for the first batch of singletons when they enter the villa on Monday evening. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Maya shared: "A very big surprise, the public has all the power,

"So, for the first episode, you guys are going to decide who couples up, you vote, and then we listen. It's a big decision to make, as soon as you see them."

Voting, which will be free on the Love Island app, will open on Thursday, June 1, at 8am, and close at 9pm on Friday evening, June 2. Unfortunately, no Westcountry faces have been confirmed for the villa yet - aside from presenter Maya, of course - although Bristol fashion designer Anika Patel is a rumoured contestant.
