Love Island host Maya Jama has been turning heads in the villa and beyond for her figure-hugging outfits and flawless makeup. Now, the 28-year-old presenter has revealed one of her daily skincare secrets that she ‘swears by’.
The star has had a busy few weeks travelling to and from Majorca for the ITV2 dating show, as well as a trip to The National Gallery Summer Party, a Harry Styles gig at Wembley and a star-studded event for Victoria Beckham’s latest launch.
So just how does she stay so fresh-faced and glowing on-the-go? Well, alongside flying around the globe and being one of the most hardworking TV presenters on the circuit, Maya just so happens to have founded her own line of face masks, too.

Launched in 2020, Maya Jama’s MIJ Masks were so popular, the first launch sold out in less than 24 hours, according to British Beauty Council. The beauty boss told Vogue she uses them ‘every morning’ and claims it helps her makeup look flawless.
She said: “I also have my own Mij Masks and I swear by them. I use one two or three times a week, depending how I feel, and I use my eye masks every morning on my way to work. It just gives you a bit of extra hydration, and I think make-up sits better when you’ve had them on.”
Maya is no stranger to sharing her candid face-masked face with her 2.8 million Instagram followers, and just this week shared a snap wearing a pair of her MIJ hydrogel eye patches.
Priced from £7.99 on the MIJ website, the eye patches come in two varieties, one which ‘rejuvinates and hydrates’ and another with ‘soothing and balancing properties’.
Vegan and cruelty free, the hydrogel patches are a non-slip patch with the ability to absorb and store up to 85 per cent of its mass with hydrating serums, which can later be delivered to the skin upon application.
They’re a really practical way to de-puff the under-eye area on the go when a full eight hours of kip just isn’t the one. Both cooling and hydrating with beauty’s buzz ingredient - hyaluronic acid - they are suitable for anyone to use, no matter skin type, age or gender.

As well as the eye patches, Maya has also created two sheet masks complete with powerhouse ingredients to give thirsty skin a much-needed boost. There’s the Rejuvenate and Hydrate mask, as well as the Purify and Glow version, both of which aim to provide a healthier, hydrated complexion in minutes.
All of the face masks are made with bio-cellulose, that’s produced from the natural enzymatic fermentation of coconut water. Not only is it rich in essential amino acids, it’s a thousand times thinner than a human hair and will cover the skin’s tiniest lines and wrinkles for the ultimate in performance and absorption.
MIJ Masks start at £9.99 for two Purify and glow masks, working out around £5 each, while four come in at £17.99. The masks are also stocked at BeautyBay and Harvey Nichols, where the masks are currently on offer.
While they may be more expensive than say, Boots Ingredients sheet masks or Superdrug’s own brand, they do work out cheaper than other high street brands, like Eucerin, where their sheet mask costs £8 for one at Boots.
Shoppers have raved about the masks over on BeautyBay , commenting: “Love this face mask and that it has protection from screen time abilities,” and “My tired, baggy eyes felt tighter and cooled after using this product.”
Another wrote: “I love MIJ masks and the only sheet masks I’ll buy. The sheet fits faces perfectly with little cut outs so you can pull taught over and around jawline. There’s always product left in the sachet, that’s lasts for a few days as a serum type moisturiser. Love love love!”
The only ‘complaint’ one shopper had was that she preferred Maya’s other eye patches to the ones she’d tried next.
