Love Island's Maya Jama stuns in £2,500 white crochet dress in villa return

Love Island 2023 is back with a fresh batch of contestants all hoping to find the one. The summer series comes just three months after the winter final in March and sees Maya Jama back at the helm.

The presenter took over the reins from Laura Whitmore at the end of last year and made her debut in Mallorca for the launch show on Monday, June 5. The 28-year-old looked absolutely stunning in a white crochet dress as she introduced the contestants to ITV viewers.

Those in the original line-up this year include film and music video extra Ella Thomas, semi-professional footballer Tyrique Hyde and Molly Marsh, whose famous mum is known for her roles on Coronation Street. As well as André Furtado, Jess Harding, Mitchel Taylor, Mehdi Edno, Catherine Agbaje, George Fensom, and Ruchee Gurung.

Maya opted for a halterneck number with cutouts at the waist from Cult Gaia for her entrance. The dress is called the Accalia Crochet Gown and costs a whopping £2,500.

It comes in both off-white like Maya's or a red hue which is called Ghermez Rose. A description on the website says the outfit "offers just the right amount of openness and coverage".

It continues: "This ankle-length, artistic gown is made from hand-crocheted geometric and floral patterns. Signature Cult Gaia cutouts at the waist only enhance the ultra-flattering effect of this dress and create an hourglass silhouette. The halter neckline ties behind the neck and is supported by two straps across the mid-back to hold you in."

Maya styled the dress with minimal jewellery and wore her hair in loose curls as she opened the show on Monday night. Speaking about returning to host Love Island for a second time, Maya said: "It feels so exciting, I was full of nerves for my first series because I was wondering what it would be like.

"Now, I know I feel really ready and excited, I just can't wait to get started! Now there’s a bit more of an expectation, I just want to make sure that I live up to that expectation again…. The pressure is on for my stylist because the dresses did very well last series!"

Asked what viewers can expect from her Mallorca looks, Maya replied: "We haven’t decided yet, but I’ve said that I want to look beachy, sexy and fun. I’d say ‘Ibiza summer’ is the vibe I’m going for."

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITX. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
