New Love Island presenter Maya Jama has been spotted embracing Stormzy on a night out, after splitting from the rapper a few years ago. Bristolian TV personality Maya, who was announced as the next face of Love Island last month, has never really opened up about the 2019 break up, and neither had Stormzy - until recently.
In a recent chat with Louis Theroux, the 29-year-old musician reflected on his split from Maya, 28, saying that their break up was like 'actual death'. After breaking his silence on their separation, Stormzy, whose real name is Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr., was spotted hugging his former girlfriend in London last night (November 8).
Both Stormzy and Maya attended a Kendrick Lamar concert in the Capital on Tuesday evening, although it is not known whether they attended together or just so happened to bump into one another. Exclusive footage obtained by MailOnline shows the former flames enjoying the concert from the O2's exclusive VIP area, standing next to one another as Kendrick performs.
An onlooker who saw the pair at the concert told MailOnline: "Stormzy approached the VIP area in good spirits, looking cool with his hoodie over his head. As soon as he saw Maya, he approached her and they embraced, proving there is no bad blood between them. After sharing a hug, Stormzy rejoined his party before returning to the VIP area later in the gig, where Maya was standing."
According to the concertgoer, Maya and Stormzy, who met in October 2014 before splitting in 2019, were sharing jokes and laughing last night, suggesting that they've moved on from their break up three years ago. The concert reunion comes after reports that Maya, who grew up in Bristol and attended Cotham School, has split from her NBA star fiancé Ben Simmons.
MailOnline reported in September that the couple had split eight months after getting engaged. It's believed that they decided to part ways due to their busy schedules conflicting with their long distance relationship, making it hard for either party to make time for each other.
Ben, who is based in New York, is believed to have popped the question to Maya, who lives in London, during the festive period last year, with a source telling the NY Post that the split was 'one of the hardest decisions of their lives'. The insider told the publication: "While they both care for each other so much, they truly gave it their all and realize that they just come from two different worlds.
"It's been a difficult time for them. They now understand they don't have the time they thought to dedicate to this relationship. After many long nights and hours of heartfelt talks, they finally realized as much as they love each other, their nonstop careers and endless travel have made it incredibly impossible to make it work."
