Love Island’s Maya Jama shares winter series prep as new host is ‘in shape and ready’

Love Island host Maya Jama has shared details of her preparation for the new winter series of the ITV2 reality show, telling fans she’s ‘in shape and ready’.

The TV presenter posted a snap to her Instagram Stories alongside her personal trainer in the gym on Sunday ahead of the return of the hit dating show.

Maya, 28, was confirmed as the new Love Island host replacing Laura Whitmore earlier this year and is set to make her debut as the show returns to South Africa for the winter version for the first time in three years.

Maya reposted the casual picture from her personal trainer’s account as she posed in black sports leggings, a sports bra and a grey jacket, with a bicep in the air.

"I GOT A MESSAGE," he wrote to his fans alongside an island emoji. "Love Island, your new host is in shape and ready."

Maya was confirmed as the new host of Love Island after long-running presenter Laura, 34, stepped back from the role.

The new South African villa for the winter instalment of the show has been revealed and is the biggest villa of the series, located in a 'secluded and protected' area in the Franschhoek wine valley.

According to reports, work is underway at the luxury eco-retreat as ITV2 gears up for the new season next year.

With gorgeous mountain viewers and peace and quiet in the secluded area, the new contestants will be safer than ever.

The gigantic villa generates its own electricity, water and has numerous food sources, making it the perfect eco-friendly TV destination.

Love Island's winter version was last aired in January 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic rocked any chances of fresh reality content.

According to the villa's website, there are 8 Manor House rooms and three separate three-bedroomed ensuite villas.

It has a capacity for 34 guests making it the perfect size for contestants and crew.

Announcing the news of the winter series return, Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning and Controller at ITV2, said: “Love Island has once again proved itself to be the nation’s favourite talking point across the summer, and we’re always blown away by the show’s ongoing impact and talkability amongst our younger audience.

"So, rather than just serving up a Summer of Love, we thought we’d make 2023 the Year of Love with two full series of the show."
