Love Island's Maura Higgins reveals she has ditched one bad habit as she shows off her washboard abs

Former Love Island star Maura Higgins has revealed she quit smoking almost two years ago.

The Longford native revealed to fans she has ditched the bad habit in a new Q&A – after she revealed her washboard stomach.

In response to a fan asking if she smoked, Maura answered: “Yes!! For many many years but I am off them two years this coming May,” with a clapping emoji.

When asked by a fan about her enviable fitness regime on Instagram, she replied: "For me workouts vary depending on how I'm feeling that day. I mix between weight training, yoga & Pilates."

Maura also said she is seeking medical help next month for her skin after suffering from acne breakouts and a mysterious rash.

She told fans she has been suffering with perioral dermatitis for a year now.

The condition is a skin disorder that presents as a rash around the mouth and can cause persistent redness, small bumps, scaling and itching.

Maura shared snaps of the red raw skin and told fans that she would be visiting a dermatologist in February.

"Unfortunately I have been suffering with my skin the past couple of weeks," the Irish star told fans.

"The acne has been occurring for a full year now (only on my chin area), which makes me think it's hormonal.

"However, I am seeing a great dermatologist in February about this.

"During this crazy flare up I started to get a very red bumpy rash around my mouth."

Maura asked her fans for help and was surprised by the number of followers who also suffer from the condition.

She went on: "After a few days of research I discovered something called perioral dermatitis and after seeing my doctor he has confirmed that!

"He prescribed me an oral antibiotic and a cream but I have chosen not to take the oral antibiotic because as we all know it just ruins your gut health so I have been trying loads of different creams.

"I cannot believe how common this is and how I have never heard of it before but if anyone else is suffering with this and wants to know what I have been using please let me know as I would be happy to share."

After trying prescribed treatments, Maura switched to over the counter products, concerned that the medication recommended were making her skin more dry.

She added: "So my doctor prescribed me Metronidazole and I used this for one day (twice a day), I woke up and my skin was severely dry and flaking.

"I stopped using it immediately and I am now trying this La Roche-Posay. I've already noticed a difference especially with the dryness so I'm going to continue this to see how my skin responds.

"I just cannot believe how many of you are suffering with perioral dermatitis."

The star shared another close-up photo of her irritated face and joked: "I've got what looks like nappy rash on my face."
